The reason why give it one star is because the price is way more expensive than buying the DVDs

Gene Rodenberry must be spinning in his grave with this one. The show is lost in the time warp of mid-1980's PC. And, gosh oh golly, they actually used the "F" word twice! How sophomoric and insulting to the past quality of the franchise. Let this one quickly be lost in the Badlands...

I wasnt sure what to think when I first saw it. It was different sure, but different doesnt always mean bad. If I had one major complaint, I really do not like the redsigns of the Klingons, dont know if that has been addressed. There were some other hiccups in the story in my opinion, but it was pretty enjoyable, and I would watch more of it.
  • Sci-Fi but not Trek

When I heard this show promoted I heard how inclusive it is. That is all fine but nothing about the plot and dynamics of the show itself. I just wish the end product was actually good. You can include every group you want but if the product is poor then maybe those groups don’t want to represented.

My wife and I (who are big fans of TNG, Voyager, and to a lesser extent DS9) just finished this season and we were throughly impressed. The cast overall is great, the story was really interesting, and the visual effects were top-notch. Watching the entire searson was like watching a long, well-done Star Trek movie. I was worried (based on how recent Star Trek movies have been) that there would be a lot of action with very little character development in this series. Although the season was fairly fast paced they did take time to slow down and develop some of the characters. I really look forward to a season 2 and although I like action I would like to see some deeper character development happen (like in TNG episodes). Cheers!

Special effects are good, but everything else is terrible. I am a big Star Trek fan and own every episode of all the Star Trek series. The story is odd and disconnected. I get tired off half the movies being subtitled for the weird Klingons (I like to work while watching and subtitles make me have to stop or ignore). It seems to have almost no relationship with the other episodes other than they try to tie a few things in 2/3 through the series. The acting is not very good and responses in situations seem unnatural. I would not recommend it. It would have been slightly better without the Star Trek name,
  • A Long Movie

Not A TV SHOW, more like a long movie with scenes that attempt to catch you up. A D- Director obviously directed this. Just watch the Harry Mudd episode vs the rest of the shows. Really?? Trying to fit the time line with the Enterprise vs the Discorvery Blueprint, Discovery is way more advanced then the Enterprise. Not beleivable. Thats like saying 10+10=1100. Lol. Oh, i would be remiss if i didnt say the Klingon in the year of the real Enterprise with Kirk and Pike do not match the Klingons that WORF stated genetically happened to him when he was with Picard. So even trying to match timelines with CPT PIKE on the Enterprise in the end of Season 1 as the proper time line moving forward to Season 2 ....... Really ? D-
  • Don't expect regular Star Trek, but keep watching once you start

First, a warning: Don’t go into this thinking it will be anything like the previous Star Trek tv series. This is much, much darker than any Trek tv series has ever been, and it’s not afraid to pull the rug out from under viewers. Second, I recommend that people who start watching the series watch all the way through to the end, because it really does tie up the storylines. I was at times very disturbed by the content (SPOILER: a major character is murdered and eaten by Klingons – I still feel sick just thinking about it) and I got so angry about certain character developments I screamed at the tv. I even stopped watching after a big reveal but eventually decided to finish the series and am glad I did. Yes, the show is very flawed and I wish some of the character arcs had turned out differently, but I’m giving it 4 stars because it kept me interested and I can’t get it out of my head. Not to mention the message of hope triumphing over fear is always something I need to hear.
