I love horror movies, and I’ve been told that this one is by far the scariest and one of the best. The problem for me is that movies like this lack a strong story line. It’s not always about gore-the characters lack something. I was 30 minutes into the movie and Regan just randomly starts transforming into the possessed being- There was really no explanation.- What horror movies need is a strong story line with unforgettable characters- take IT for example. This was missing that.

I honestly have to say this was a very good and disturbing film. But in my opinion, it was not as scary as everybody makes it out to be. I think it is disturbing because the power of this movie is real. Things like what happened in this movie, really happen but it did not exactly scare me. To be honest I thought The Conjuring and Insidious were worse than The Exorcist. Yes, I know The Exorcist a lot bigger than those two films. But the only reason everybody thinks it’s so scary is because it’s the first film to ever create such a disturbing story. I went in expecting something that would be terrifying but it wasn’t. And it’s because everybody always said it’s the scariest movie ever. With people saying that, I expected more. Nobody ever talked about Insidious or The Conjuring as if they were up there with it. Yes, I heard people say it was scary but nobody ever said anything big about them which is why I think it made them more scary to me. I feel like people shouldn’t just watch a movie and say “Well, good movie but it’s been done before.” That might be true but that doesn’t mean it’s not a scary movie. Everybody saw this movie first and it can’t be done again for some people. I do understand that. But even with me, I watched The Exorcist first and then after that Insidious and The Conjuring. I felt like they just made The Exorcist look bad after watching them. Don’t get me wrong, this is a great movie and I would recommend watching it. But it just wasn’t what I was expecting since every calls it the scariest movie ever made. It is not the scariest movie ever made.
