I loved the Play, I loved the first movie, but this one put me to sleep. Despite a great cast, this movie feel very short. At times it almost looked like they were lip syncing. Wait to rent it or just save your money.
  • Ridiculous movie. Don't bother.

LOVE this movie?! It's fun, sad, amusing, funny; a roller coaster of emotions like every good movie is. There's wonky things about it, but that's the glamour of Mamma Mia. We're here for a good time and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again gives it to us.
  • plateau of sadness-disappointing.

The acting was on par with the star quality--no faults there. What I didn't care for is the writing/plot. The entire movie was layered in varying degrees of sadness, grief, regret and disappointment one right after the other, with only one real break. It didn't portray the same fire and gumption that the characters had the first go round. It's quite the opposite of the first movie, which I LOVED! If you're looking for an upbeat sing-a-long, this is not it. I'm very disappointed--Be ready to cry.

We were so excited to see this and so disappointed once we did. Meryl Streep was smart enough to bow out and viewers should, too. (Yes, she did make a 4 minute cameo at the end). Songs are weak ABBA b-sides, plot is absent. Fewer scenes are shot on location and the others feel fake. The magic of Greece is gone. The hardest thing to watch, as an adult in my 50's, is how old the original actors became in 10 short years. More than anything, this movie made me feel my mortality. It felt like a tour of a wax museum!
  • A musical and sequel at it’s best!
