This movie wants to be the kick-off to a new series. It doesn't meet that mark. This isn't a bad one-time film, but doesn't measure up to what a new series of Laura Croft films needs to be. One of the annoying things that drags this film down is the need to explain away the fantastic. I won't spoil the film, but the mysterious and fantastic, rightly played, can really make a film worthwhile. This film wastes that opportunity.
  • It’s a video game adaption and it’s GOOD

*takes a deep breath* This is not a remake of the Angelina Jolie movies. This is not a remake of the Angelina Jolie movies. This is not a remake of the Angelina Jolie movies. This is not a remake of the Angelina Jolie movies. Because it’s not supposed to be. It’s an adaption of the new games and it’s a good adaption too. (Really it shouldn’t be compared to the Jolie movies at all) So I’ve seen a lot of reviews that state the movie is boring, confusing, or poorly put together. First of all... no. The movie is an excellent adaptation of “Tomb Raider”, the 2013 game that it’s based off of. I’m getting the impression that many of the negative reviews are coming from those who have not played the new generation of Tomb Raider games. If you haven’t played the new games then maybe it’s understandable why you might find the movie confusing, nonetheless this movie is extremely underrated. It includes key details from the game: weapons, location, villains, basic plot line, character growth and development. As well as more niche aspects of the game: scenes throughout the movie look as though they came directly from the game, even the combat tactics she uses throughout the movie display similarities to the game. Overall the movie is able to give the audience an original plot line while still remaining true to its source material, something that many video game movies have yet master. The movie itself is riveting, visually stunning, and a lot of fun. The movie does a particularly good job of showing Lara Croft’s humanity and personal strength, making the movie much more realistic, and keeping with the theme that new Tomb Raider video games that are trying to show Lara in a more personal and relatable way. I recommend watching even if you haven’t played the game, the movie is a diamond in the rough, so to speak.

I wanted to like this movie and it started off pretty entertaining. As the plot thickened it got more and more lame. It lacks substance and the plot twists are predictable. Laura really is good at hanging onto things though. Spoiler alert, “that’s how she escapes every single close call in the movie.” Okay if you have nothing else to watch. Mediocre at best.

It’s just so so that’s the best I can possibly say Lara does a lot of grunting and groaning is overkill in so many ways. For the $.99 rental price it was OK.
  • Terrible

Ugh..this was not good. The cast, the story, it wasn't good. The original two movies, as cheesey as they were, are much more entertaining than this movie. I can watch those movies again, this one isn't interesting enough for me to waste my time with again.
  • Glad it was a 99 cent rental!

Overall, mildly entertained. It’s better than watching someone else play a video game on YouTube but of the same quality. The only redeeming quality was that I paid 99 cents to rent it, however, I think that a fair market price would be in the 25-50 cent range.
  • Awful movie

This isn’t like the older tomb raiders at all, this is a feminist version of a tomb raider movie, maybe that’s why it was only .99 to rent. Feminist are ruining everything, Laura Croft always was cute, strong and was nice to look at and this lady was just the average joe trying to be Laura Croft. Good luck on the sequel 😂
  • Is it over yet?

Definitely not a fan of this new Tomb Raider adaptation or the new actress. The movie is covered in poor CGI and bad acting. I’m glad I only paid 99 cents to watch it.
